"Central
Processing and Coal Handling"
– near Harrisburg, Illinois
Arclar Company
This project supports
advanced coal preparation circuits in the Willow Lake Central
Preparation plant. Arclar’s Willow Lake Mine complex includes a
new mine slope, two airshafts, coal preparation plant, raw coal
handling system, and clean coal handling system. The coal
preparation plant was designed for a total input of
approximately 1,400 tons per hour with the capabilities
of producing approximately 5,000,000 clean tons per year. The
new facilities also offer cost efficiency provided by the
proximity of the complex to the transportation facilities
located upon the Ohio River at Shawneetown, Illinois.Clean Coal
Review Board funds provide for the construction of a new coal
preparation plant using state-of-the-art technologies to clean
coal before shipping to the open market. Included in these
technologies are heavy media cyclone circuits, filter presses,
and froth flotation circuits. These technologies allow the
maximum yield of cleaned coal and substantially decrease the
amount of refuse produced over the life of the reserve by
reducing coal losses during beneficiation.
Total Project: $11,300,000
Board Commitment: $2,000,000
Progress Report :The preparation
plant was commissioned in 2002 and is currently in full-scale
operation. The project has been completed. |
